Beer Style: Wheat Beer ABV: 4.9% Served: Canned
I first tried this beer about two years ago, and have only been hearing more and more about it since then.
21st Amendment certainly created an attractive and appealing brew with Hell or High Watermelon; the can itself is covered in their characteristic cartoon graphics, with a playful homage to both the East and West coasts that shows Lady Liberty taking a quick break on the Golden Gate Bridge. Personally, the graphics are the most appealing thing about this beer.
When it comes to taste, Hell or High Watermelon just does not do it for me. The promise of delicious, fruity Watermelon flavor fell completely short, in my opinion, though there is a slight, lingering aftertaste. It completely pales in comparison to other fruit-infused beers (Most namely, Pyramid’s Apricot Ale or Ballast Point’s Grapefruit Sculpin). As far as body, it is lighter than other wheat beers I have had, and seems a lot closer to a lager.
The only time I would drink this is if the only other choice was (Insert Coors/Miller/Bud here) light, or if it was free. And strictly in the summertime.
